⬤Aritz Palacin: Demeter’s embrace

This artworks explore the construction of imaginaries linked to memory, nature, and the spiritual. Through symbolic compositions, the exhibition creates a space where the figurative and the dreamlike converge in an open narrative. The works aim to create a visual experience characterized by ambiguity, atmosphere, and emotional perception.

Aritz Palazin is a visual artist and illustrator born in 1992 in Basque Country. Since he was a little kid he found inspiration in basque misty mountains and now finnish forests are his muse. He is an idiosyncratic figurative artist, strongly symbolist, for him art is like a ritual to find a fusion of the beautiful and the dark depths of the soul. He likes to talk about life and death, grief, love, decadence, melancholy, nature and mystery. Going deep in the eros and thanatos. Being the defense of nature and animals is also part of his artistic sensibility.

His powerful imagination and sensitivity finds the best ally in the visual arts. Since he started painting oils at the age of 10, he hasn’t stopped so the basis of his art are his oil paintings, ink drawings and illustrations, with big attention to detail and expressive and personal brush strokes. Sometimes he wants to catch moments and atmospheres experimenting with fine art photos.

His major influences are Francisco de Goya, Zdzisław Beksiński, Francis Bacon, H.R. Giger, Edvard Munch and Nicola Samori.

⬤Heidi Järvinen: Only Murders in the Shoe Department

Only Murders in the Shoe Department on mustaa huumoria hyödyntävä näyttely, jossa korkokengät päätyvät melodramaattisten “rikosten” uhreiksi.

Lavastetuissa valokuvissa kengät esiintyvät rikospaikoilla – hirtettyinä, auton alle jääneinä ja puukotettuina. Kuvasto viittaa väkivaltaan, mutta kohteena ei ole ihminen vaan esine.

Teokset pohjautuvat noin 20 vuotta sitten toteutettuun valokuvasarjaan, jota on nyt työstetty uudelleen. Ajan kuluminen muuttaa niiden sävyä: paatos kääntyy osin helläksi, osin oudoksi.

Heidi Järvinen on kuvataiteilija, joka työskentelee pääasiassa keramiikan ja sekatekniikan parissa. Hänen teoksensa käsittelevät esineitä tilanteissa, joissa niiden käyttöarvo hämärtyy. Tunnistettavat muodot – kuten ruoka, pakkaukset tai arjen esineet – muuttuvat ei-toimiviksi, pelkästään katsottaviksi objekteiksi.

Järvisen työskentely on kokeilevaa ja materiaalilähtöistä: ideat muotoutuvat prosessin aikana vuoropuhelussa materiaalin kanssa. Teoksissa yhdistyvät runsaus, huumori ja hienoinen ristiriita, jotka johdattavat katsojaa pohtimaan, mikä on esineen ja taiteen välinen ero – ja onko väärin tehdä jotakin, joka on olemassa vain katsottavaksi.

⬤Valentina Lachner: Cats, Plants and windows into another world

This exhibition features a collection of art pieces depicting architectural settings of windows into another world, exploring lighting in bright colors and translating textures of plants, cats and objects into soft materials. All art pieces are sustainable yarn paintings, handmade entirely from recycled material using the punch needle technique.

Valentina Lachner is a sustainable designer, textile artist and illustrator based in Helsinki, Finland. Working with textiles and handcrafts has always been a big passion, source of inspiration and creative outlet in her life – with a focus on a slow, deliberate and almost meditative practice.
