2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the Bretton Woods Conference, which created the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the postwar economic order intensifying colonial financial order. We have had enough of this system and we want economic and debt and climate justice —globally! 🙌🏼
This October, Debt for Climate launching a wave of actions across 33 chapters to demand debt cancellation for the Global South and an end to financial colonialism. From October 12th to 27th, we will unite to fight against the predatory practices of the IMF, World Bank, BlackRock, and other creditors who are trapping the Global South in unsustainable debt.
In Finland, we invite speakers from African and Latin American chapters to talk about their actions and reflect on the colonial nature of debt and what climate movements should do to demand Global south’s debt cancellation!
